Why A Glock 18?

I DVR Top Shot and watch it later so I can skip commercials. (But not the Llama – I enjoy the Llama). The elimination weapon this week was a Cornershot fitted with a Glock 18. The challenge didn’t involve any automatic fire, and the extended magazine will work in any 9x19 Glock, and Colby didn’t say anything about the Glock itself being unusual in any way. I was left scratching my head as to why they bothered with the G-18 when they’ve got any number of Glock 17s lying around, based on previous challenges.

Then it hit me – the Glock 18 is a Machine Gun; and therefore doesn’t need a SBR tax stamp when it’s placed into the Cornershot…

    Seriously, thanks.

  3. Doesn't need a tax stamp because it's already got a tax stamp then?

  4. Correct. Also, buying a stamp for one of the Glock 17s the show already had would have taken time, effort, and enormously complicated the future transport of that firearm, since Short-Barreled-Rifles are legally difficult to transport interstate or transfer.

  5. Hell, I was wondering the same thing when Colby said there was an 18 in there. You simply don't hear 18s mentioned all that often, and it struck me as odd. Now it makes perfect sense.

  6. So, is this Glock considered a SBR? Or Machinegun? Or both?

  7. Now, it all makes sense. Silly gun laws, they're just for us little guys.

  8. It's interesting that their Glock 18 didn't have a selector...

  9. Just because it's legally a machine gun doesn't mean it has to be an actual machine gun.

  10. The G17 slide should work just fine on the G18 frame. That's how to get rid of the selector.

  11. @45er - they did follow the gun laws. Ignoring them would have been slapping a G17 into the Cornershot/
